In times of chaos, community steps up.

"I see how my community asks and needs certain things and we're just not receiving it," says Yamelisa Taveras, founder of The Unidos Foundation.

"My goal is ultimately to unite our community to empower community, to come together and to bring in and bring out our own resources that we already have and call on each other when we need help. So right now, the students need us and we're here. We're responding."

The Unidos Foundation is responding by raising funds to help families in the Allentown School District receive free Chromebooks for their students, as well as getting personal protective equipment for front line workers and care packages to those in need.

The foundation was created in 2019 to focus on the gaps that exist within the community of Allentown, the Lehigh Valley and beyond.

With the help of parent and student advocate, Yahaira Washington, and Trilu Media Studios, The Unidos Foundation raised $13,000 in 13 days, with 100 percent of the proceeds going towards Chromebooks and supplies for students and families.
