Friends of the Lehigh River, Inc. is encouraging the public to speak up before NYC takes over. The city wants to use the Lehigh's water to meet downstream flow targets in Trenton, NJ, enabling less water to be released from the city's drinking water supply in New York state.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, NYC's Department of Environmental Protection, and the Delaware River Basin Commission have initiated a Francis E. Walter Dam Re-evaluation Study. The scoping part of the study includes a public meeting scheduled for Thursday, January 9th at Mountain Laurel Resort, 81 Treetops Circle, White Haven, PA 18661. The meeting will be from 6pm to 8pm and an audience comment session will take place from 6:50pm to 7:45pm. The public is welcome to provide written comments to be considered before January 29th.
