Federal Funding for Public Media is Under Threat
Last week, President Donald Trump signed an executive order directing the Corporation for Public Broadcasting to end federal funding for NPR and PBS, and the White House is reportedly planning to formally request that Congress eliminate previously approved federal funding for the nation’s public media. These actions threaten independent local news coverage and educational programming that benefits you and millions of other Americans.
Public Media is More Important Than Ever
Public media reaches 99% of Americans and is often the only local media outlet available in communities where other news media organizations have disappeared. Public media is more important than ever – not only for unbiased news and information, but for programming that contributes to an informed citizenry and community engagement initiatives that bring neighbors together on topics of local concern.
