ALLENTOWN, Pa. (WLVT) - A food hall with nine merchants will give more access to fast-casual dining this fall, with the opening of the Downtown Allentown Market.

“There was definitely a lack of fast-casual restaurants in the downtown,” said Manager of Leasing and Activation for City Center Allentown, Natalia Stezenko. “We have a lot of great full-service restaurants, but we needed some things that were a little more casual, and a little better price point for the lunch time crowd.”

The food hall will feature a restaurant from celebrity chef, Robert Irvine, called Fresh Kitchen. In addition, there will be Middle-Eastern and Asian cuisine, along with sushi, baked-goods, and a bar. The market is going to be 12,000 square feet and will have common seating areas and counters at each merchant.

“It’s also going to be a great supplement to when there’s an event at the PPL Center - hockey game or concert,” said Stezenko. City Center held a job fair on Wednesday for people looking to be employed in the market. Andrew Van Langen is a Lehigh Valley resident and he attended the job fair. He got offered a full-time job as a chef. “It felt really good,” said Van Langen. “I’m just returning to the job market, so to be able to come in and say this is what I have to offer, and have it be accepted is really nice.”

The market is expected to open in September. If you missed the job fair and are looking for opportunities, click here to visit the website for the Downtown Allentown Market. Stezenko said you can send your resume through the site, or you can reach out to the merchants directly.
