UPPER SAUCON TOWNSHIP, Pa. (WLVT) - Saucon Valley Country Club today looked forward a couple of years and provided a peek at the 42nd U.S. Senior Open Championship logo.

The Lehigh Valley club in 2022 will host its third U.S. Senior Open, the first club to do so.

Organizers are looking forward to the national spotlight shining once again on Saucon Valley for the golfing championship.

"The Senior Open is a tournament we are very happy about because you have such a good list of names that you know, and the general population of the Lehigh Valley recognizes," said club President Dave Kennedy.

Jim Roney, director of Saucon's courses and grounds, says his staff's experience maintaining a championship course make the club an easy choice for the U.S. Golf Association.

"I think that it's kind of turn-key," Roney said. "They come here and we have a staff that's motivated -- and a staff that's got the experience and is very educated in what's expected to host and maintain championship courses. So, it's really just a plug and play."

The 42nd U.S. Senior Open is set for June 2022.

Organizers hope to welcome thousands of spectators and pump millions into the Lehigh Valley economy.

Club officials were delighted to show off the course just a couple of weeks since it was deluged during Tropical Storm Isaias.

Saucon last hosted the U.S. Senior Open in 2000 and in 1992.
