PBS39 to Air Live Mayoral Debate in the City of Reading

This live debate, featuring the candidates running for mayor of Reading, will air at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 14.

Bethlehem, PA. - May 7, 2019 - PBS39 will broadcast a live mayoral debate from 7-8 p.m. in the Francis Hall Theatre at Alvernia University on Tuesday, May 14, 2019. This is the third debate in the station’s Who Will Lead? series, which will continue through the November 2020 election cycle.

PBS39 Executive Producer and Host Monica Evans will moderate this debate alongside Dr. Travis Berger, Assistant Professor of Business and Leadership at Alvernia University. This live debate will feature candidates Wally Scott (Incumbent) (D), Robert Melendez (D), Annarose Ingarra-Milch (D), Eddie Moran (D) and Frankie Graham Jr. (D).

“An important part of our mission at PBS39 is to educate citizens and promote civic engagement,” Tim Fallon, Chief Executive Officer at PBS39 said. “We are excited to give the residents of Reading an opportunity to hear from the candidates before casting their vote this primary season.”

About Monica Evans
PBS39 Executive Producer and Host Monica Evans has more than three decades of broadcast experience. Before joining the team at PBS39, Evans spent 11 years as a senior reporter for the FOX affiliate in Kansas City, Missouri. Previously, she worked as a court and crime reporter for the ABC affiliate in Springfield, Massachusetts, an arts and entertainment reporter for the FOX affiliate in Hartford, Connecticut and a talk show host/producer for the NBC affiliate in Hartford. Evans has a bachelor’s degree in communications and journalism from Central Connecticut State University.

About Dr. Travis Berger
Dr. Travis Berger is an Assistant Professor of Business and Leadership at Alvernia University, where he has taught since 2005. Dr. Berger is also the Managing Partner of Vide Consulting Group, LLC, a regional leadership and management consulting firm that he founded in 2012. He is a featured writer for the Reading Eagle’s Business Weekly, where he regularly contributes to the ‘On Leadership’ column. Dr. Berger designed, developed and managed Alvernia University’s Master’s in Organizational Leadership (MOL) program that was launched in 2014. He also played an important role in launching the 1st Annual Pennsylvania Leadership Studies Conference, hosted by the PA Sociological Society. Dr. Berger earned a Ph.D. in Administration & Leadership Studies from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He has a M.Ed. from Alvernia University and a B.A. from Penn State University.
