Last month, PBS39 hosted U.S. Senator Pat Toomey for a Town Hall session; one which gave members of the community a chance to ask engage the senator in a question-and-answer dialogue on topics ranging from healthcare and immigration, to domestic and foreign policy.

The session garnered national and regional attention, with the most recent being an article in Current highlighting our Town Hall as part of a growing public media trend toward civil discourse in a turbulent political climate.

Current, the nonprofit news service for and about public media in the U.S., examines all that went into making our Town Hall session with Senator Toomey possible, painting a picture of the preparations necessary for such a landmark event. The article, from Current senior editor Dru Sefton, also calls on similar examples from WPSU (Clearfield, PA); Mountain Lake PBS (Plattsburgh, NY); and WMHT (Troy, NY).
