LEHIGH VALLEY, PA. – October 4, 2022 - LehighValleyNews.com officially launched today as the region's only locally-operated and non-profit news source, carrying local daily, breaking and investigative news at no charge to the public. Content for the platform is being produced by an editorial staff of more than 20 reporters, editors, and producers. The announcement was made by Lehigh Valley Public Media.

“Our research indicates that there has never been a more important time to launch a sustainable local news and information platform specifically focused on our community especially for those ages 25-49,” said Chief Operating Officer Yoni Greenbaum. “We have recruited talented journalists from all over the country to cover our dynamic, growing community. This investment is truly a benefit to the region.”

The editorial team will be led by news industry veterans Jim Deegan and Jen Rehill. Deegan, who has been covering news in the Lehigh Valley for over 25 years, has been named Executive Editor and will continue to serve as Vice President of News, a position he has held since joining the organization in May 2018. Rehill, who has been with the organization since 2019 and was recently selected for the Poynter Leadership Academy for Women in Media, will serve as Director of News with oversight of the reporting staff.

“The team we’ve assembled is truly made up of some of the best in the business,” said Deegan. “I couldn’t ask for a better group of people to lead LehighValleyNews.com into a bright and exciting future.”

LehighValleyNews.com is supported by community members, local companies, and regional philanthropists, enabling its teams to deliver local news free to the public. Individuals also have the opportunity to purchase a LehighValley+ premium membership to support the future of local journalism, while gaining exclusive access to in-depth features and content, a members-only newsletter, event-invites, and more.
LehighValleyNews.com has also launched social media accounts on Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Instagram at @LVNewsdotcom.

“As the region’s public media organization, we have an obligation and responsibility to keep our community informed and engaged,” said Lehigh Valley Public Media CEO Tim Fallon. “LehighValleyNews.com provides our community a singular opportunity to ‘Get More Local’ through an online platform that will deliver on that promise.”
