PBS39 and Fig Bethlehem have partnered to produce Makers in the Lehigh Valley, a digital series including videos, photos, and short editorial content that is meant to highlight artisans in their field.

Makers in the Lehigh Valley will showcase the skills and passions of cutting-edge creators, whether they specialize in craft, community, cuisine, or otherwise. The series will be launched this summer in connection with the programs of PBS39 CREATE -- an instructional channel whose programs provide expert advice on cooking, arts & crafts, gardening, home improvement, and travel -- providing viewers inspiration to taste, grow, imagine, explore, and live more fully.

After a tour of Europe traveling, cooking, and baking, John returned to his hometown of Bethlehem. Here, he founded The Wayfare Baker, an artisan baking company which produces old world style, naturally leavened sourdough breads—using local, Pennsylvania organic grains he grinds himself using a stone mill. Produced out of a kitchen on an historic property in Bethlehem Township, Wayfare Baker breads, croissants, scones—and even pizzas made in his handmade, portable pizza oven—are craftsmanship you can taste. Find them at various local artisans, restaurants, retail locations, and seasonal farmers’ markets.
