Northampton Community College and Lehigh Carbon Community College both offer retraining programs for displaced workers, in partnership with Careerlink and Workforce Board Lehigh Valley. Tuition assistance can be provided based on eligibility, and both colleges provide flexible options.

Nancy Dischinat, Executive Director at Workforce Board Lehigh Valley, says over 49,000 people in Lehigh and Northampton counties are unemployed, and she wished they would reach out.

“Do something right now to upskill yourself. While you’re at home, make sure you’re getting a credential, a certificate, a continuing education credit, go to a community college or training program. Make sure you’re doing something, even volunteering will show that you’re moving your agenda forward. It’s up to you to move your own agenda forward," said Dischinat.
