COPLAY, Pa. (WLVT) - U.S. Sen. Pat Toomey participated in a forum with Lehigh Valley business leaders Thursday and discussed what a next round of federal stimulus funding could look like.
"We should definitely do liability insurance," said Toomey, R-Pa. "I think we can give states more flexibility on the money that was already sent to them, much of which has not been allocated. Much is not been spent.
"I think we can allocate more money for testing in vaccine development to make sure we're fully on track for that."
Toomey hosted a forum with local job creators and economic leaders to discuss the effects the pandemic has had on the local economy. It was hosted in conjunction with the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce at Lehigh Valley Sporting Clays.
Before the question-and-answer session, Toomey taped a segment of the show "Business Matters" with chamber President Tony Iannelli.
Iannelli asked Toomey about his plans for 2022 when his term in the Senate is up. Many have speculated that Toomey may run for governor.
"In 2022 my term is up and I have to decide if I'm going to run for re-election," said Toomey, a resident of Lehigh County. "There is an open governor seat, at that point that I have not ruled out the possibility of running for governor. But I also have not ruled out going back to the private sector."
