When Carbon County Emergency Management said they were in desperate need of personal protective equipment, local leaders started making phone calls.

Sharps Compliance, a medical disposal company, sent a truck full of gloves, face masks, and isolation gowns to Carbon County within days.

The company is based in Houston, Texas and has had a medical waste facility in Nesquehoning, Carbon County since 2016.

Robin Watson, Senior Director of Sales at Sharps, says their CEO David Tusa's motto is "people over profit."

The equipment will be distributed to Carbon County police departments, fire departments, EMS and St. Luke's hospitals in the Lehigh Valley.

Carbon County is still asking businesses for help. Anyone who can is asked to contact Doyle Heffley's office or the Carbon County Chamber.
