BETHLEHEM, Pa. (WLVT) - The election is right around the corner, and it's not only the presidential race that has the attention of Pennsylvania voters.

The 7th Congressional District covers Lehigh and Northampton counties and part of Monroe County.

Incumbent U.S. Rep. Susan Wild, a Democrat, and Republican challenger Lisa Scheller faced off at the ArtsQuest Center in Bethlehem on Oct. 8 in a debate organized by the Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corp.

Wild says she followed through with promises from her last campaign and plans to do so again. She is seeking a second term.

"I have fulfilled my campaign pledge to hold town halls in every corner of the district," she said. "I have listened religiously to my constituents, and we run a first-rate constituent services operation."

Scheller, a former Lehigh County commissioner, touted her experience running Schuylkill County manufacturing company Silberline.

"[Silberline] employs 150 hardworking Pennsylvanians," she said. "Struggles I know first-hand, what the struggles are we face. As the COVID crisis began to unfold, I saw it was coming down the line and the first thing I did was take my salary to zero to try and help protect jobs."

The election is set for Nov. 3.
