WLVT - TV -As U.S. physicians treat more COVID-19 patients, it's becoming clear the virus is not just a respiratory illness.
"With COVID, we're seeing clotting in veins and arteries, which really blows the mind," said Dr. Marcelo Gareca, an infectious disease physician at Lehigh Valley Health Network.
While some COVID patients have struggled to breath, others have suffered heart attacks, strokes, and kidney damage.
"Having a stroke due to COVID-19 is something that's going to affect you for the rest of your life, even if you survive COVID-19," said Dr. John P. Reilly, Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
