PBS39 to Broadcast Downton Abbey Marathon Over Thanksgiving Weekend
What better way to start the holidays than with a marathon of Downton Abbey, the number one drama in the history of public television?
Long-time fans and newcomers alike can watch the magnetizing MASTERPIECE series in its entirety on PBS39 throughout Thanksgiving weekend. The marathon will begin with the Season 1 premiere, Thanksgiving night (Thurs., 11/24) at 7 p.m., and will conclude with the Season 6 finale on the evening of Sunday, November 27.
Downton Abbey premiered on PBS stations throughout the United States on January 9, 2011. Written and created by Julian Fellowes, the Emmy-winning British drama starts off with a real-life event – the sinking of the Titanic in April of 1912. From there, the series spans 12 years of gripping drama centered on a great English estate on the cusp of a vanishing way of life.
Nearly six years after its PBS premiere, Downton Abbey’s success shows through its many accolades, including honors from the Screen Actors Guild, Primetime Emmy Awards, Golden Globe Awards, and many more.
