PBS39 Cancer Survivorship Documentary 'Close to Home' to Premiere Sept. 20
PBS39 has teamed up with oncologist Dr. Rick Boulay, Lehigh Valley Health Network, and the Catherine Boulay Foundation to present Close to Home, a new documentary exploring the many emotions and trials of cancer survivorship.
Close to Home follows physicians and their patients through their cancer battles, exploring themes of fear, hope, faith, journey, advocacy, and caregiving. The program will premiere exclusively on PBS39 on Tues., Sept. 20 at 7 p.m. as part of PBS39’s Local Hour.
“With Close to Home, PBS39 is honored to partner with Lehigh Valley Health Network and Dr. Rick Boulay to share intimate stories of local cancer survivors,” said Teri Haddad, EdD, SVP of Education and Production. “These individuals and their families have inspired us with their candor and wisdom to provide comfort to those on the journey through cancer.”
Dr. Boulay, a Lehigh Valley Health Network oncologist and founder of the Catherine Boulay Foundation, narrates Close to Home, and teamed with Dr. Dan Foster to compose thematic music to accompany the production.
Dr. Boulay finds his inspiration as the son, grandson, and husband of cancer survivors.
"It is incredibly fulfilling to capture, so beautifully, the authenticity of cancer survivorship,” Dr. Boulay said. “I truly believe that Close to Home’s narratives and songs will profoundly resonate with those touched by cancer.”
