Artist of the Month Returns for 2017
Last Updated by
Art is subjective, and it comes in many forms. Students in grades K-12 will once again have the opportunity to put their creativity to the test as part of PBS39’s second annual Artist of the Month contest, sponsored by The Provident Bank Foundation.
Artist of the Month will once again feature the artwork of 12 student artists -- one for each month of the year -- throughout 2017. Students are encouraged to submit their finest work from one of the following categories: Painting, drawing, photography, videography, sculpture or performance art (video).
Last year, we received more than 80 submissions from students, parents, and educators in the Lehigh Valley and the surrounding area. We narrowed the field down to 12 winners, who we have featured online, on-air, and on social media throughout the year.
Each 2017 Artist of the Month will receive:
- A one-minute feature video to run on PBS39 television (Month TBD).
- An Artist of the Month blog post on PBS39 Speak Up.
- Social media recognition on PBS39 channels.
- An invitation to PBS39's exclusive Artists of the Month Art Show in December 2017.
Students can submit their artwork via photograph or digital file to PBS39 from September 12 through October 28, 2016. Winners will be selected and notified by Friday, November 11, 2016. Four winners will be selected from each of the following categories: Elementary (K-4); Middle (5-8); and High School (9-12). All artwork must have been created within the past six months at time of submission. To give more students a chance to be featured, 12 new winners will be selected for 2017.
