Intern Journal #3: Beyond the Classroom
My favorite thing about being an intern at PBS39 is the application of what I’ve learned at Lehigh Carbon Community College to the “real world.” A job well done is no longer just measured by my GPA. I am now a part of an organization much larger than myself, and more far-reaching than the four walls of a classroom.
It is one thing to hand in an assignment to your professor, and an entirely different thing to turn over work to your supervisor. With classwork, you spend precious time planning and executing the task at hand and you are left with a finished product that you are proud of, sure. You may receive exemplary remarks and a gold star for your efforts in class, but the fruits of your labor cease to exist beyond that point.
The projects that I have the opportunity to get involved with as a PR & Marketing Intern for PBS39 hold much more weight. From something as simple as these weekly blog posts, press releases, and social media interactions, to helping facilitate a much larger dialogue with a new series of upcoming community events, including our 6th Annual Micro Brew Festival at Coca-Cola Park, I am not only contributing to PBS39, but to the community.
