Special Events Make the Holidays Fun at PBS39
The holiday season is always eventful here at PBS39, but we have been especially busy over the past few days. We’ve had a lot going on at the PPL Public Media Center, as we’ve presented our community with opportunities to connect with us and some of the finest programming PBS39 has to offer.
This past Saturday, we hosted our Downton Abbey Final Season Premiere Party, where our guests had the opportunity to dress as their favorite Downton characters and enjoy hors d’oeuvres from Catering by Karen Hunter, a silent auction, tea – or wine from South Italy Imports, if they attended the later session – and, of course, an exclusive screening of the first hour of Season 6 of Downton Abbey.
The party was great fun! All who attended throughout the day enjoyed a bittersweet day as they simultaneously said hello and goodbye to the MASTERPIECE classic. Even our employees were in on the day's activities, dressing for the occasion.
In case you missed the party, don’t worry: you’ll have the opportunity to see the Season 6 premiere of Downton Abbey when it airs on PBS39 on Wed., Jan. 6.
That brings us to last night, when it was our honor to host Italian singer Giada Valenti at the PPL Public Media Center. Giada was on-hand to present her new program, “From Venice with Love,” and we had a great time getting to know her in-studio.
Giada will return to our area when she performs “From Venice with Love” at the Keswick Theatre in Glenside on Sat., Apr. 2 at 7:30 p.m. As many did last night, you can receive tickets to this amazing performance as a “Thank You” for supporting PBS39 by following this link.
