Our Six Winning Empowering Educators Teams Are...
This fall, PBS39 opened its Empowering Educators contest to school districts in the region. This program, sponsored by PPL Corporation, encourages students in grades 6-8 to make a positive difference in their communities by performing a public service tied to the fields of science, technology, engineering and/or mathematics (STEM).
Six winning student teams were chosen, and will be given the chance to bring their projects to life under the leadership of a teacher. Each school district will be awarded $1,000 to help turn its ideas into reality.
Our six winning Empowering Educators teams are…
Moravian Academy Middle School (Bethlehem Area School District) – “Engineers of Tomorrow”
Raub Middle School (Allentown School District) – “Future Fridays”
Holy Infancy School (Bethlehem Area School District) – “Beautifying Our Community, One Step at a Time”
Northwestern Lehigh Middle School (Northwestern Lehigh School District) – “NWLMS Pink Out for LVH Pediatrics”
Northwestern Lehigh Middle School (Northwestern Lehigh School District) – “NWLMS Operation Gratitude for Our Military at the LVIA for the Holidays”
Easton Area Middle School (Easton Area School District) – “Quenching Our Food Desert”
Each project must be completed by Apr. 15, 2016, and each team will submit a final report describing its project outcomes to PBS39 by May 6, 2016.
