Congratulations, 2015 Production U Graduates!
On Friday, the 2015 edition of PBS39’s Production U summer camp came to a close. At PBS39, we recognize our 25 most recent Production U graduates, their talents and knack for teamwork.
The students were divided into two teams – NewSquad39 and Steel Empire News – and became immersed in the entire television production process, including writing, shooting, editing and performing as on-camera talent. The two teams covered different topics; NewSquad39’s program focused on educational topics, while Steel Empire News’ work centered on the arts scene in the Lehigh Valley.
The newscasts premiered on Friday at the PBS39 Public Media & Education Center, located at 839 Sesame St. in Bethlehem, during a celebration including the students, their families and PBS39 staff. Students were honored individually by their instructors, with special distinction going to Leah Gaydos, who won the camp’s Leadership Award, and Joseph Vazquez, who was selected as the class Valedictorian.
“This camp has taught me so much about what being a leader means. More importantly, it showed me the outcome of being a great leader,” said Gaydos, a junior at Emmaus High School. “It was such an amazing experience, and I loved every minute of it.”
While working under the tutelage of PBS39’s Emmy Award-winning production team, both Production U teams created impressive final products that will serve them well in their future endeavors. Moreover, the skills and lessons learned throughout the week will help our recent Production U graduates excel – even when the cameras aren’t rolling.
