Delta Rae Rocks in Tribute to Bethlehem Steel
Coming to work every day at the SteelStacks campus is a unique experience. History sits right outside our front door and, at any given moment, we can walk outside and take in one of the most important industrial legacies in our nation’s history.
That opportunity is not exclusive to employees of PBS39 and ArtsQuest. Those who visit – and sometimes, they do so by the thousands – have a chance to be inspired by Bethlehem’s past any time they pop in.
Over time, we’ve seen plenty of people use the rise and fall of Bethlehem Steel as the inspiration behind their art. Come down to SteelStacks at any time, and you will almost surely find photographers – professional and amateur – trying to put a unique, visual spin on the rich history of Bethlehem Steel.
Sometimes, artists will pay tribute in other ways. Folk rockers Delta Rae chose to do it by delighting the eardrums.
The Durham, N.C.-based band took to YouTube and social media yesterday to unveil “Bethlehem Steel,” its ode to a bygone era of the region’s industrial past.
The band, which has performed at the Musikfest Café in each of the past two years, will include the song on its new album, “After It All,” which will be available for purchase on Apr. 7. Fans can pre-order the album now by visiting DeltaRae.com.
For now, enjoy “Bethlehem Steel,” and leave a comment to let us know what you think!
