On Saturday, June 25, 2016, the Bethlehem community came together at SteelStacks for the city’s 275th Anniversary Community Celebration. Local residents, business leaders, organizations, and important figures from the city’s past and present were on-hand to celebrate how far Christmas City has come, from its history as an industrial powerhouse, to its transformation into a cultural and business destination in the 21st Century.

PBS39 had the privilege of participating in this unique celebration with the public premiere of our original production, Second to None, which documents the pageantry, tradition, and history of Bethlehem’s own Liberty High School Grenadier Band. The program was met with a standing ovation from current band members, alumni, parents, and members of our community.

We also hosted two unique tapings inside of the PPL Public Media Center at PBS39: Scholastic Scrimmage: Bethlehem Celebrity Edition pitted two teams of four important figures from our city’s history against each other to answer Bethlehem-related trivia. We also presented A Conversation with Daniel Roebuck, during which PBS39 FOCUS reporter Brittany Garzillo and a studio audience asked the actor questions about his Bethlehem upbringing and upcoming film, Getting Grace.

PBS39 was thrilled to be a part of this special afternoon, and to honor the city we have called home for 50 years. We look forward to many more great milestones together!
