Celebrating 50 years of public television, PBS39/WLVT has been a window to the world: providing diverse television focused on learning, the arts, science, and the people of the Greater Lehigh Valley, along with community and educational support and outreach.
PBS39 has planned a number of exciting events to celebrate its 50th anniversary year that will engage the Greater Lehigh Valley community:
Soul & Doo Wop Spectacular, Sunday, April 2, Sands Bethlehem Event Center featuring Rock & Roll Hall of Famers Little Anthony & The Imperials, The Impressions, and The Crests featuring Tommy Mara.
Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood: Tiger Family Trip, Saturday, May 6, Jacobsburg State Park, Nazareth. Daniel Tiger will share a very special episode of the hit educational series; also featured will be crafts, scavenger hunts, exploration backpacking, and PBS39’s very own mascot, TeleBear.
For three weeks beginning on Monday, May 8, PBS39 Online Auction. The digital update to the previous on-air auction will present the best that the Lehigh Valley business community has to offer.
Seventh Annual PBS39 BrewFest, Saturday, June 3, Coca Cola Park, offering samples of more than 100 beers from craft brewers and distributors, as well as great live music and local vendors.
What would a Golden Anniversary be without a big party? PBS39’s 50th Anniversary Gala,Saturday, November 4, ArtsQuest. This momentous occasion will feature local entertainment, celebrate members of our community, and recognize the impact of public media on our region.
Along with the kickoff to PBS39 50 Years With You on January 26, 2017, WLVT 3.0 was officially unveiled to the public. PBS39’s Board of Directors and senior leadership team thoughtfully and carefully designed a future for our organization that will positively and measurably move the needle in our region. WLVT 3.0 provides the foundation for PBS39’s future as a vital community resource for impacting change. The enhanced vision and mission shoulder the grand aspirations for a stronger, better educated, and engaged Greater Lehigh Valley.
