KIDS and MUSIC
Join Team Tempo as we dedicate an entire program to young people creating beautiful music. The Allentown Symphony recently held a young composers competition to explore the incredible talent our region has to offer. We'll hear some of their creations and inspire you with our profile of a 14-year-old composer from the northeast. His Julliard instructors say his potential puts him in the same class as Mozart and Mendelssohn. Plus we learn about the Alliance for Creative Expression which gives children ages seven to 12 access to professional musicians. Beautiful music created by talented young people from across our region fills this 30 minute Tempo special report. You won't want to miss it!

We first introduced you to baby Catherine in the NICU in 2002. Now she's enjoying a vibrant life and is the national face of the March of Dimes. Plus, we bet you can't guess this body-builders age. Find out how a medical problem turned him into a fitness champion. And... meet area women inspiring the Girl Scouts.

An area school celebrates 25 years of helping kids overcome obstacles in the classroom. We'll introduce you to those making a difference in these students lives. And -- over one million americans are affected by Lupus... Learn more about what Lupus is and how people cope with the disease. Plus, she entertains folks with stories from the 1800's. Take a step back in time with this local actress.

April 8 and 11
Minor league baseball's a hit in the Lehigh Valley. We look at the home team's economic impact. Plus... GPS systems help guide students through their lessons. Find out how the high-tech gadgets direct students on their journey through education. And, we're heating things up in the kitchen with an award- winning chef who spends most of his time in a college cafeteria.

March 31 and April 3
Did you know, every school day 46 children will learn they have cancer, and over 40,000 children are treated for the disease each day. We'll introduce you to a young girl battling leukemia, and a pediatric cancer survivor. Plus, we'll show you how families are helping other families deal with the diagnosis, and even kids without cancer, pitch in their pennies to help their friends. Learn how you can make difference too.

April 1 and April 4
We discuss the PBS series, "Unnatural Causes." We take a local look at how social status affects our health. Plus, remember 1931? We'll show you the stories making headlines that year including a view from the Empire State building. And, we look at how many area non-profits work together to help feed our areas hungry.

March 24 and 27
Pennsylvania's roads and bridges need repairs, but the Commonwealth has another problem - finding the funds to fix them. We'll discuss what possible solutions are in store. Plus, more than one million americans have some form of neuromuscular disease. Learn more about the disease and those battling muscular dystrophy. And it's a win-win for everyone. Find out how these students return the favor.

March 25 and 28
Learn how area organizations are revitalizing the region's cities - one grant at a time... Plus, Phillipsburg joins forces with the Lehigh Valley to help bring in moe business. And, Spring has sprung! It might be early for gardening, but lots of flowers were in bloom at the Lehigh Valley Flower and Garden Show. We'll go behind the scenes of what it takes to put together these beautiful displays.

March 17 and 20
Trucks are hauling steel and the foundation's being laid for a new casino where Bethlehem Steel once stood. We'll take a look back at the steel plant's significance and update you on what's happening now at the site. On a smaller scale... Reading's revitalized one of its historic buildings from an old goggle factory into a meeting place for artists. Plus, the store comes to you --- we'll introduce you to a local nursing home business that sets up shop where ever its needed.

March 18 and 21
Learn what educational initiatives are underway to encourage science and technology in the workforce. Plus, how can you keep your children safe from internet trouble? PBS 39 offers some Tech Savvy solutions for parents and kids. And, we'll introduce you to an award-winning photojo
urnalists and his heroic snapshots.

One out of every five people in Pennsylvania is 60 or older. The Commonwealth has the third oldest population in the nation. The Commonwealth's Attorney General teaches seniors how to avoid becoming a victim of fraud. And... parenting your parents makes a huge impact on family relationships. We'll have tips to reduce your stress. Plus, senior fitness plays a huge role in improving your quality of life. We'll inroduce you to a couple enjoying their golden years by staying young
at heart.

Students' imaginations work overtime at this area school and its paying big dividends. Plus, this Montgomery County museum is a work of art... and houses some of the world's most valuable artifacts. And we continue our tribute to Black History Month as we profile Miss Pennsylvania, who's traveling the state to raise awareness for autism.

We're all looking for ways to age gracefully. Learn the basic prevention tips on how to live a long and happy life. And - a local shelter's putting family first with the hope that'll improve their chances of staying off the streets. Plus, take a historic tour of Bethlehem's Goundie House.

The nation's workforce is aging -- find out how companies plan to deal with babyboomers retirement. Plus, construction crews continue to work on renovations to Lehigh County's courthouse. January 28 and 31 A Tempo! Special Report: Healing Healthcare. What is the solution to Pennsylvania's failing healthcare system? Some reports indicate that eight percent of Pennsylvanians are not covered by health insurance. Plus, nearly 2,500 patients a year are losing the battle to healthcare acquired infections, costing us more than $3.5 billion dollars. Also, will Pennsylvania have enough doctors to care for our aging population? Tempo! looks at the state of healthcare in Pennsylvania.
