PBS39's Scholastic Scrimmage Set to Begin 43rd Season

Bethlehem, Pa. -- November 2, 2016 -- With the new academic year in full swing, the Greater Lehigh Valley's best and brightest high school students will once put their knowledge to the test during the 43rd season of PBS39's long-running academic quiz show, Scholastic Scrimmage.
 

Scholastic Scrimmage, PBS39's longest-running on-air program, pits teams of four high school students against each other and quizzes them in all academic disciplines. This season of Scholastic Scrimmage will feature teams from 31 area high schools, and will be hosted once again by Dr. Karen Walton, Provost of DeSales University.


"For 43 years, generations of our region's top high school students have challenged themselves and their peers by competing in Scholastic Scrimmage," said Teri Haddad, EdD, SVP of Education and Production at PBS39. "This program allows some of our best and brightest academic students to shine. We're looking forward to another great season."

Scholastic Scrimmage teams will compete throughout the school year in an elimination-style tournament until the final round. PBS39 will award the winning team $4,000 for its scholarship fund. $2,000 will be awarded to the runner-up.

The action kicks off on PBS39 Tuesday, Novem
ber 8 at 7 p.m. when Bethlehem Catholic High School takes on Pen Argyl.
